Counting cats to help test the effectiveness of cat management strategies

The first step in understanding starting effective outdoor cat management plans is to figure out how many cats exist in an area. This involves counting cats. Once you know a baseline of how many cats there are in an area you can implement various strategies to manage cat populations and then test their effectiveness by counting cats at a later time.

In collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada, The Stewardship Centre for British Columbia and Nature Canada we are conducting baseline studies to count cats in the cities of Vancouver, BC, and Gatineau, PQ.
